2/27

I had to care of some stuff for college. I ended up cancelling my application to ASU because I already have a lot of options for next year and I am short on time to be worrying about another application. UNT never received my transcript so I need to do that and I am done applying to colleges. I looked up some potential scholarships and then worked on my thesis. There are a lot of Ted Talks about interrogations and why someone would confess to a crime they didn't commit. I am not sure in what direction I am heading but hopefully it turns out alright.

2/8

I was not in class today because I was downtown for a orchestra fieldtrip.

2/23

Today we helped out Dr.Jensen and submitted the junior's class course requests. It took awhile since the system kept crashing. After that, I finished my AP Registration.

Psychology

I researched the psychology of interrogations. It does point out that videotaping interrogations limit the truth. It will lead farther away from the confession.

2/16

I continued my research about the brain and guess what I found? Why torture doesn't work: THE NEUROSCIENCE OF INTERROGATION! It is about 52 minutes long and it covers many topics and different kinds of torture and what the brain goes through. I really enjoyed watching it. I watched other videos from CBs over different cases and how interrogation played a factor in it.

Thesis

I was supposed to talk to my mentor today, I didn't happen. So I decided to do research on the brain. Basically, what I did was continue the research from last class period. Psychology plays a great role in interrogations. The article I read said that the brain can be manipulated easily when you know what to say. Since the brain can only remember certain parts of events, making someone recall what happened at a certain time and on a certain day, their memory will be blurry. This article states that people should be aware of the cons for interrogations. Torture was a major tool used for confessions but they stated how the brain changes when someone undergoes that for several hours. The brain is highly sensitive and needs tender care.

Thesis

Mr. Correa wasn't here :( but the show must go on. So today I worked on more of the psychology aspect of my thesis. I am contacting my mentor to set up a potential date to talk more about what I have and what I can research more. I wonder how many psychology classes police officers take...hmm...They do take psychology exams but I feel like these classes should be implemented. Getting to know how a human works make things easier when confronting them. People are sensitive and anything affects them. This thesis is really something. We trust them to keep us safe yet some feel threatened.

2/2

I worked on some scholarships and on some things for Arizona State University. I presented this week and it was okay. I need to improve on relaxing my voice and not to provide too much about techniques in front of judges.
